Onebip's unique properties lie in its ability to enable merchants to monetize their goods and services on a global scale using carrier billing technology. This technology is particularly beneficial for the unbanked and younger demographics who may not own a debit or credit card. It offers an alternative payment mechanism that utilizes a pre-existing, trusted carrier billing relationship.

The design is realized using the most advanced technologies such as RESTful API, RDBMS in conjunction with NoSQL database for the management of Big Data. The methodologies employed include Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, Test Driven Development (TDD) with Unit Test and Integration Test, Behaviour Driven Design (BDD), and Browser Based Test both for web and mobile.

Onebip supports multi-platform mobile payments which can be used on websites, mobile sites, and within native Android and Windows applications. The interaction with the design is facilitated through Direct Carrier Billing, ISP Billing, and Premium SMS Billing. These methods allow purchases to be charged directly to the user’s mobile monthly bill, prepaid credit, or broadband/fixed line bill.

Onebip, which started in 2005 as the first mobile payment service in the world, is now the mobile payment service of the global mobile commerce group, Neomobile. The design's deep integration with carriers and expertise in mobile billing systems enables partners to experience the next generation of mobile payments in just one click. Onebip works with over 500 global partners and is connected to 250+ carriers, maximizing their revenue with mobile payments.

Despite the challenges of establishing mobile as a strong alternative to other payment channels, Onebip has successfully enabled many online gaming, dating, social networking, media, and software sites to monetize their products. The design's award-winning status is a testament to its innovative approach and significant impact on the world of mobile payments.
